44th Bristol White Tree Scouts
Discharge Policy
Discharging an Individual
In extreme behavioural cases, the best and safest solution is to ask an individual to leave the 44th Scout Group but this can only be instigated by the (assistant) lead volunteer following the procedure below:
- Leader reports his/her concerns to GSL and Chair.
- Lead Volunteer(s) (LV) and Chair convene a meeting that includes Section Leader, and Training Officer at the earliest opportunity.
- Section Leader presents the issue and concern and any evidence from the Incident Log.
- A majority decision is required to remove the individual if the issue is deemed to be compelling.
- Before notifying the parent, LV is required to inform the District of the decision, giving District 10 days to respond.
- LV is then to inform the parent of the decision, should the parent seek to escalate this then the Chair is the next step.
